Project Description The EL Fellow will work in the ELT Department at Trakya University in Edirne. The EL Fellow will teach no more than three preps per semester (3 different courses) to total no more than 20 contact hours per week for the duration of the 10-month grant. In addition to skills courses (speaking, advanced reading and advanced writing skills), the EL Fellow will teach (over the course of 2 semesters) research methods and material evaluation and adaptation. Additional responsibilities may include facilitating teacher training seminars for in-service teachers in the ELT department. Any in-service training is welcome.
Project Objectives As Trakya University is positioned quite close to the Bulgarian border, the students and faculty will reap the benefits from having an EL Fellow placed at their university by incorporating what they learn in international communication and interacting with professionals from the neighboring countries. Trakya University is eager to learn more about the recent trends in ELT and is positive the EL Fellow would be very helpful to this end.
About the Host Institution Established in 1982 with about 2,400 students, Trakya University has grown ten-fold with 24,000 students in attendance today. The School of Education organizes conferences in English Language Teaching and Educational Sciences fields in collaboration with Bulgarian and Greek universities. Bulgarian, Greek and Turkish teachers working at these universities collaborate on research projects and present their papers at these conferences
