Project Description
Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) offers TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and trains teachers of English for the public schools. The university aims to raise its standards of instruction in the English Department through ongoing teacher development. The EL Fellow will assist the Department in reaching this goal in the following activities: teaching English at the graduate and undergraduate levels; conduct methodology workshops with teachers; assist teachers in special research projects; and assist in pre-departure training for staff going abroad to study. The university would also like to establish cooperative agreements with universities in the U.S.
Project Objectives
To improve standards of teaching in the English Department; to prepare teachers for study abroad; and to network with universities overseas.
About the Host Institution
UNNES offers academic and professional training in education and other fields. It offers TEFL training at the undergraduate and graduate levels for future teachers of English in Junior and Senior high schools.
