Project Description
The University of Muhammadiyah Gresik has two centers in its English Department: the English Learning Center and the Application and Language Development Center. The EL Fellow will work in these centers in the following capacity: lecturer for language classes; resource person for round-table discussions and teacher associations; guest speaker for English Clubs; and leader of training workshops for staff. The EL Fellow will also assist in materials development, self-access resource center, and culture related matters.
Project Objectives
To create cooperation with universities in the U.S.; to improve language teaching practices; to motivate teachers and students to practice English.
About the Host Institution
Universitas Muhammadiyah Gresik is a private university, which was established in 1990 with a current enrollment of approximately 1800 students. The English Department was created in 2001 and trains teachers for the university and high school levels.
