Host Institution IRFAN Druze Schools Project Description
The EL Fellow tasks will include training EL Coordinators and Irfan school teachers in constructive classroom supervision and current EFL methodology and reflective teaching; training over 50 (K-12) Irfan teachers of subject matters in current methodology and providing assistance in the implementation of the current curriculum; working with Irfan educational directors and EL Coordinators on evaluating and selecting the current EL Curriculum and text books at Irfan School in Semkanieh and all other branches; providing special EL intensive training to improve teachers' language proficiency; providing follow up sessions for the above mentioned teachers to guarantee understanding as well as implementing the current curriculum and the suitable evaluation tools and plans; provide professional development workshops for Educational Administrators on effective instructional supervision and other educational topics; and conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences from which over 330 teachers of English in public and private schools in the different regions where Irfan branches are situated, will benefit. The Fellow will teach 20 hours per week at Irfan Druze Schools. The other 20 hours will be spent preparing lessons, and creating an English language rich environment for staff and students through a variety of activities. In addition the Fellow will conduct teacher-training sessions for teachers at the Irhan branches, and assist in the development of curriculum, materials, assessment and lesson plans. |
