Project Description
The EL Fellow's primary site will be the Ministry of Education of Samara Oblast, which will set up an outreach program in Samara Oblast to enable the Fellow to work with teachers from across the greater Volga region. The Fellow will provide seminars and workshops that focus on TEFL methods, including the use of Internet in the EFL classroom, American studies teaching, and English for specific purposes/business English. The Fellow will also work at the English Language and Culture Center in Samara, which is run by USG exchange program alumni. This placement will give hundreds of teachers in the region opportunities to learn first-hand about U.S. life and institutions. The Center will serve as hub for other American Corners in the greater Volga region. The Fellow will also conduct a series of EFL methodology and American studies workshops to teachers from the region and neighboring regions, including Saratov, Syzran, Togliatti, Kazan, Balashov, and Voronezh. The Fellow will support the activities of the Samara EFL teachers association by helping conduct workshops, seminars, and debate club activities, support ECA USG funded exchange program alumni. The Fellow will also assist Moscow ELO by participating in post-sponsored ECA Microscholarship English ACCESS Program activities, Summer Institute of English TEFL Training and American Studies Institutes, and Summer ENGLISH Language Camps. The Fellow will work with EFL teachers from rural areas, will teach at the English Language and Culture Center, and will work for SELTA. The Fellow will have 2 outreach trips every month.
