Host Institution Ministry of Education Institute for the Development of Regional Education
Project Description The Yekaterinburg consular district is home to a significant Muslim population. Working in close coordination with ETC, the EL Fellow will be responsible for ELT teacher training in Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovskaya Oblast, to support public affairs programming related to education and English teaching. The primary institution will be the Ministry of Education Institute for the Development of Regional Education (IRRO). At IRRO, the Fellow will give seminars and workshops to teachers from the surrounding Sverdlovsk region, covering topics such as Practical Use of English, methodology, cross-cultural issues, and American studies. The Fellow will support ECA USG funded exchange program alumni. The Fellow will work with regional and local English teachers’ associations and USG-supported organizations to support in-service training in cities throughout Sverdlovskay Oblast including but not limited to Pervouralsk, Krasnoufimsk. The Fellow will also give seminars at the American Center. The Fellow will also assist Moscow ELO by participating in Summer Institute of English TEFL Training and American Studies Institutes, and Summer ENGLISH Language Camps.
The Fellow will teach 12 hours/week at the Institute for the Development of Regional Education, 2 hours/week at American Center, will work 4 hours/month for Associations. The Fellow will also have 1 outreach trip every month.
