Project Description

The EL Fellow will focus on teaching English language professionals how to teach to Young Learners (YL) to support the provision of YL methodology courses on a national scale. The recent declaration of the Polish government to introduce regular lessons of English in primary schools (starting in the first grade) creates a need to establish a cadre of English professionals who are prepared to tackle this goal of YL TEFL. The secondary focus of this Fellow will be to provide mentor training. Promoting the importance of mentoring, the provision of adequate training and allowing insights into the examples of good practice or models of teacher education that have proved in action, will be very helpful in Poland. The Fellow will work out of the National In-Service Teacher Training Center, on an 8-4 schedule. The Fellow will provide in-service training at the Foreign Languages Department, and will work on curriculum and materials development for the center and national use. The Fellow will also coordinate with his/her co-Fellows and outside contacts in establishing a resource center.  The Fellow should have some experience with quality assurance.
