AY 2006-2007 Projects - Europe and Eurasia

Country                       Kosovo
City                             Pristina
Host Institution          Faik Konica School of Journalism

Project Description
This project seeks to continue post efforts to provide present and future journalists with English language skills as well as the technological and research skills needed by professional journalists. Since 2004, an English Language Fellow has been teaching courses to undergraduate Journalism majors at the Faik Konica School of Journalism and, starting in 2005, to graduate level students at the Kosovo Institute of Journalism and Communication. Using the technological resources available at the American Corner in Pristina, the EL Fellow will continue to work with journalists on using the Internet as an information resource. The Fellow will further develop specialized web pages for journalists interested in learning and using on-line resources. The Fellow will also work with newly established American Corners in ethnically divided city of Mitrovica to develop programs aimed at bringing the residents of that city together. The Fellow will teach one course to students of the Madrassah in Pristina that combines U.S. studies with the development of English language skills.
