AY 2006-2007 Projects - Europe and Eurasia

Country                       Georgia
City                             Tbilisi
Host Institution          English Teachers' Association of Georgia

Project Description
The EL Fellow will work on several national and regional ETAG (English Teachers' Association of Georgia) projects. In the first project, the Fellow will be responsible for training groups of younger teachers in three regions (Tbilisi, Akhaltsikhe, and Zugdidi). The Fellow will work with trainee teachers to develop workshops using the Books-in-a-Box materials and to introduce them to basic teacher training skills. The young teachers will visit a number of rural schools to co-deliver pedagogical workshops and to promote the importance of professional development. The Fellow will accompany the trainees to observe some of their workshops and to provide feedback. The Fellow will also provide on-going support via email for the trainees. Once the workshops have been delivered, the Fellow will organize follow-up sessions to evaluate the trainees' progress and to assess the impact of the project. In addition to this main project, the Fellow will also be asked to assist ETAG with three other projects: developing a new 40-hour Business English teacher-training course with a focus on best business practices, delivering teacher-training courses in Tbilisi and in the regions, and helping ETAG organize the 3rd Regional South Caucasus ELT conference to be held in spring 2007. The Fellow will be required to promote Mutual Understanding in rural areas of Georgia and in the South Caucasus region.
