Project description
The EL Fellow will teach English language classes (55%), conduct "In-service Workshops” for University and Secondary English Teachers (35%), serve as a resource for some of the planned workshops at the Female Education Center (10%).  In the first semester the Fellow will teach Spoken English, and in the second semester will teach, but also organize in-service workshops for teaching and administrative staff at the University. In the 2006-2007 academic year, the Embassy plans to conduct several workshops for English Teachers in regional cities of Ethiopia, to be planned and conducted with EL Fellows, who will serve as a resources and presenters. Efforts to promote and encourage women’s education are vital in Ethiopia, as females comprise only 10% of current post-secondary enrollment.  The Fellow will assist the Female Education Center at Debub University with programs to enhance academic and social success of women.
